The Automation Technologies course is designed to provide students with the
knowledge needed to successfully pass the required two CompTIA exams, HTI+
Residential Systems and HTI+ Systems Infrastructure and Integration.
HTI+ certification exam validates the necessary baseline competencies for a
technician servicing the automated home industry.
Residential Systems (HT0-101)
Systems Infrastructure and Integration (HT0-102)
These exams measures the students' skills in Residential Systems : Computer
Networking Fundamentals, Audio/Video Fundamentals, Home Security and
Surveillance Systems, Telecommunications Standards, Home Lighting Control, HVAC
Management, Water System Controls, Home Access Controls, Misc. Automated Home
Features.
Structured Wiring: Low Voltage (e.g., twisted pair, coax, shielded, fiber),
High Voltage (nominal 120/240 volt) and Systems Integration: User Interfaces,
Control Processors.
Structured Wiring:
When many customers think of home automation their first thought is the
internet. Often control of the home is regarded as "in the future;" reality is
that it is here today. Each solution taught in class offers a web option
allowing full home control from any internet browser. In addition, cameras can
be integrated to allow a customer to view their home and control lighting,
HVAC, and security. A customer can even add e-mail notifications and record
video through a simple web interface. Total home control is available today at
a very reasonable cost. During class we not only teach you what can be done, we
actually show it working! Why wait for the future when the technology is
available today?
Home Audio:
Multi-source whole house audio systems and living room theaters are two of the
hottest markets in residential installation. Simple installations may include a
theater pre-wire or volume controls to enjoy music in several rooms. More
elaborate systems include in-wall speakers, multi-source / multi-zone audio
distribution and home theaters. Top of the line installations include touch
screen control and unified remotes. At Micropower Computer Institute we not
only focus on how to sell and install these profitable systems but also how to
use the A/V sale to add additional systems including security, HVAC, and
lighting
Security:
The cornerstone of all integrated systems is security. The security system
knows when you are home, away, on vacation or in bed for the night. Sharing
this information with lighting, HVAC and other systems allows a home to be more
secure and efficient. At Micropower Computer Institute we have done the
research and worked with manufacturers to choose reliable security solutions
which provide complete integrated solutions
Phone Systems:
The telephone is the most universal interface in the home. In today's fast
paced society a telephone is never far away. Each Micropower Solution provides
full control over all of the systems in the home via voice prompted menus. This
gives the customer the ability to check on their home from anywhere in the
world or offer them a simple point of control at their bedside. In addition to
using the telephone as an interface for controlling the home, it can also be
used for notification of alarms, arming/disarming, and other system events.
Integrated Lighting:
Home Automation starts with lighting. To many dealers lighting is simply
controlling a light based on time, security, or creating a scene. At Micropower
Computer Institute we will demonstrate lighting solutions that enhance the look
and feel of a room as well as offer convenience and control. Each system
provides professional approaches to both new construction and retrofit which
will not strain customer's budgets. Best of all, Micropower Computer Institute
classes only use lighting systems that install seamlessly and are easy to
program and maintain. We show solutions which do not require complicated RS-232
serial strings or are limited by using contact closure. At Micropower, we do
the integration, you don't have to
Interfaces:
A well designed and engineered solution is only as good as the user interface.
Often the interface captivates the customer and leads to the sale. At
Micropower we have spent years trying to improve the user experience without
requiring a full time, on staff programming engineer. Finally, true plug and
play solutions exist. To the dealer this means being able to offer attractive,
full color, self configuring touch-screen solutions that do not break the bank
or require tireless hours of programming. This now brings the capabilities of a
complete integrated system to a price point designed for the masses
HTI+ Certification is designed for individuals who would like to become
Automation Technology Integrators in Residential Systems, Systems
Infrastructure and Integration.
